Today I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new town center for the Town of Portola Valley (California,USA). (See reference below.) Plans for new construction include city offices, city maintenance facilities, sports facilities, recreation areas and trails, a library, a community meeting room, and science and art rooms.
The plans call for achieving a rating of at least LEED gold. People hope that, with further work, the project will achieve LEED platinum.
The chief architect, Larry Strain, knows Jerry Yudelson, with whom I developed the brochure “The ‘GIST’ of Campus Sustainability Planning: GAIN IMPACT. SAVE TIME.” (See reference below.)
