Discussed government-catalyzed private-sector innovation with a group from China

On May 23, 2008, I provided a presentation, “Private-sector Innovation Catalyzed by the American Federal Government,” for 33 visitors from Beijing, China.  I spoke on behalf of the University of California, Berkeley, Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP).  The overall program title was “Innovation Management for Chinese State-Owned Enterprise Leaders.”

Most of the participants work for enterprises.  One is associated with the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.  I enjoyed providing the presentation and having discussion during and after the talk.  I would like to thank GSPP’s Blas Perez Henriquez, Gan Bai, and Jenny Ton for making this possible.  And, I would like to thank BingBing Jiang for interpreting.  The U.S. Department of Commerce provided some parts of the program and arranged for a meeting room in the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building (Oakland, California), which was being planned by the Public Building Service while I served as a commissioner in the U.S. General Services Administration.
